Building the Clinical Data Layer for A.I.: Why We Invested in Century Health
AI is fundamentally reshaping drug discovery, disease modeling, and patient stratification - but the datasets that powered previous waves of biomedical breakthroughs won’t carry the next wave. High-quality, structured, real-world clinical data is now the scarce input gating progress. Most of it is trapped inside fragmented EHRs - in clinical notes, radiology reports, and physician documentation that legacy data pipelines can’t unlock at scale.
Century Health’s provider network captures real-world evidence from the largely untapped segment of community hospitals, specialty groups, and private practices. Its tailored AI platform automates the curation and enrichment of fragmented, unstructured data, turning it into research-ready, regulatory-grade clinical data. With 97% accuracy tested against clinical expert judgments, Century Health is trusted by providers and life sciences partners.
The company has grown its provider data network 60x over the past year, spanning neurology, nephrology, ophthalmology, respiratory, metabolic, and immunology, with several leading global pharma companies as partners. The buyer set keeps widening: frontier AI labs, AI-native drug discovery companies, and biomedical foundation model builders are all racing for the same proprietary real-world clinical data. The largest models will only be as good as the clinical data behind them.
Origin Ventures VI led Century Health's oversubscribed $5M seed financing, with participation from InnovateHealth Ventures, 25m Health, Next Play Ventures, 2048 Ventures, and Alumni Ventures. Strategic angels include Zorba Lieberman, founder of Citeline, and clinicians across nephrology, neurology, and ophthalmology.
Co-founders Vish Srivastava and Sanjay Hariharan have spent their careers at the intersection of healthcare data, AI, and product - with backgrounds spanning Evidation, BCG Digital Ventures, Epic (EHR), and QuantumBlack. This is the company they were always going to start.
Century Health continues Origin Ventures’ thematic investing in AI applied to the healthcare industry, following our investments in Medmo (acq. by Covera) and Conflixis. We’re excited to back co-founders Vish, Sanjay, and the Century Health team as they build the clinical data infrastructure shaping the next wave of medical breakthroughs.
