Bruce N. Barron is a Founding Partner of Origin Ventures.
Bruce serves on the boards of the Chicago Baseball Cancer Charities, and Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF) Chicago and International Chapters. He previously was on the National Board of the American Cancer Society, and the boards of GrubHub, Tock, Dialogtech and other early-stage technology companies. Bruce has provided funding for the Origin Ventures Office of Entrepreneurship at the University of Illinois and the Jacki & Bruce Barron Cancer Research Scholars Program, a collaboration between ICRF and City of Hope.
Bruce received a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1977. He earned his C.P.A. certificate and worked as an accountant in the Chicago office of Touche Ross (the predecessor of Deloitte & Touche) and other medium-size public accounting firms. He left the practice of public accounting in 1985 to begin his entrepreneurial career.
Bruce received the Richard J. Daley Awards from the Illinois Venture Capital Association in December 2025 and was named a Crain’s Chicago Business Tech 50 member in 2013. He enjoys traveling with his family, spending time with his grandchildren and playing golf.
